A official from China’s Commerce Ministry further commented that the nation could introduce its own unrevealed “countermeasures” if the American leader carries out his threat, adding that the country was “not afraid” of a possible trade war.

This past Friday, Donald Trump responded at Beijing’s move to tighten its regulations for overseas sales of critical elements, accusing Beijing of “turning aggressive” and attempting to hold the international market “captive”.

Furthermore, he vowed to pull out of a arranged summit with China’s President Xi, which was arranged for a summit in South Korea before the month ends.

Trump’s comments on that day unsettled financial markets, with the S&P 500 share index dropping nearly three percent, marking its steepest fall since April.

His comments revived fears of a trade war between the two economic giants.

Recently, China declared it was tightening overseas sale regulations on rare earths and additional substances critical for high-technology production.

This move was regarded as a significant step, as the nation handles about ninety percent of the world’s rare earths, which are employed in products such as solar panels and mobile phones.

New remarks from both governments are being interpreted by observers as a strategy of enhancing bargaining power prior to upcoming negotiations.
