PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
